This was a most challenging project.  Lowering the cellar area in order to create a large habitable room for living space, utility room and bathroom in a period property.

​

The most challenging part was the underpinning of the existing structural walls in a sequence to ensure stability was maintained throughout.  We also had to tank the new basement area and install a series of pumps and cut off valves to prevent water coming back up into the property in the event of a flood in the area.

​

A complicated lightwell was formed up to the line of the public footpath. The lightwell had a modern Velfac escape window system fitted with a galvanised platform and ladder in the event of an emergency.

In addition to this we also refurbished the kitchen area by adding some sliding folding doors, a new kitchen as well as new bathroom on the 1st floor.

The property was occupied throughout.
