The developer had purchased the back garden that had gained planning permission for 4 terraced houses after the previous developer had run out of finance to build out the houses.

Thi swas the constructiomn of a row of 4 terraced houses on a sloping site.  The houses were constrcted with a waterproof "Sika" concrete reinfoced basement wall on 3 sides to create a lower ground floor with the kitchen/dining area leading out onto the garden area.  Above this at ground floor level was the living space, and 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms to the upper floors.

The hous ewas built with traditional brick and blockwork cavity walls, timber floor joists and a factory finished sah windows.  The roof was completed with slate roof tiles.

Solar panels were incorporated into the rear roof pitch for heating and hot water purposes.

One of the main constraints with this site was the tight access on a cul-de-sac road and scheduling deliveries of bricks and timber around busy neighbour accessible times.

Excavation of the SIKA waterproof concrete basements commences.


This will later become the kitchen & dining area leading out to a covered ammenity space and raised lawned garden.

Steel reinforcement is put in place to retain the basement walls.  This retaining wall will support the earth immediately alongside Warwick Road, St Albans.


Here you can see the neighbouring property as the construction takes below ground level.

Celotex insulation prevents heat loss from the NHBC constructed houses.

Interiors are plastered and ready to receive finishes.

Each property incorporates an attractive covered patio to the rear as well as a higher-level grassed area.


Above you will notice the solar panels that each house has fitted.  These supply naturally heated water for the kitchen and bathrooms.
